SJPA is a voluntary, non-profit organization composed of paralegals, students, vendors, and sponsors who study and/or work in a variety of areas in the legal field. SJPA members are dedicated to promoting the paralegal profession by networking, offering continuing legal education (CLE) classes, mentoring students, and educating the public.
A brief history:
• In June 1985, SJPA became the 33rd association member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations which represents paralegal associations throughout the world.
• In 2010, we began offering our members the opportunity to be credentialed through the New Jersey Certified Paralegal (NJCP) Program.
• In May 2013, SJPA celebrated its 30-year anniversary of incorporation and continues to grow and support the paralegal community.
On March 06, 2020 SJPA held its 9th Annual PES (Paralegal Educational Symposium) at Doubletree Suites, in Mount Laurel, N.J. It was a great day, full of informative seminars and terrific speakers. Our attendees got to network, obtain CLEs credits (if needed), and had a great breakfast & lunch.
If you’re thinking about becoming involved, SJPA could always use the assistance. Committees such as PES, CLE planning, obtaining speakers or working with our Scholarship Committee. Your time is valuable; therefore, an hour or two a month; or a helping hand at one of our dinner meeting would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, we offer “coffee houses”, which is one or two paralegals going to local colleges and speaking with students about SJPA and the role of a paralegal. Nobody knows more about “a day in the life of a paralegal” more than us! Let’s share our knowledge with students.
